Living with diabetes, Type II.
This has been MWEHNβs biggest health projectβa program to help people living with Type II (currently epidemic among Marshallese) via the Marshallese-language Diabetic Self-Management Calendar: packed with perspectives, facts, and photos about diet, exercise, and weight control, pathways to good health. Group or individual presentations. Ask us for more information.
Food diary research:
A successful project during the pandemic, when Marshallese families were hired to monitor their family foodsβand showed huge gaps and problems with the U.S. Marshallese diet. More paid participation for research into health areas may be possible.
Marshallese diet and nutrition:
Cooking classes and demonstrations, often at your own church! They teach what to cook for a really healthy diet, including diet for Type II diabetes. Usually thereβs one or two each month.
Green Juice:
A successful early program mobilized by Carmen, blended vegetable and fruit smoothies, to get folks started on the biggest deficit in Marshallese diet--delicious solutions to that help solve a major nutrition problem. Of course, always talk to your doctor first.
